If my son is allergic to cashew nuts?

What other nut might he be allergic to? He eats peanuts and peanut butter with no problems. The reaction to the cashew was pretty severe and he had to be rushed to the hospital at the age of two from merely taking one bite. I don’t want to risk another scare like that, but at the same time, how will I know if I don’t try other nuts? He is 7 now, and we haven’t let him have cashews since that incident. But I have been told that the next reaction will be more severe and lethal since the body is just waiting for that trigger to react.

Can you suggest food products, mixes, snacks, etc. that are safe for a person allergic to tree nuts?

My grandson has a severe food allergy to tree nuts (not peanuts). Many cake mixes, snack products, and prepared foods are made on equipment which also processes nuts. We cannot use those products. Can anyone with similar experience suggest some prepared snacks or mixes that are safe?
He would go into shock and having breathing difficulties which could threaten his life. It is very dangerous!

Why am I allergic to some nuts, but fine with others?

Peanuts, cashews, and pistachios give me my worst allergies, but I can eat walnuts, pecans, and almonds straight from the bag. How are they so different, and how could I tell whether or not other nuts, like macadamias, are dangerous?

What protein bars can I eat if I am allergic to tree nuts and peanuts?

I want to eat energy bars and protein bars but almost every package I read has nuts. I am willing to take a chance and eat ones that are packaged or made on equipment that deals with peanuts or tree nuts.
I am looking for protein bar names so I can buy them. I would like to eat protein bars, but I haven’t found any without nuts. Does anyone know of a brand that make protein bars without nuts?

I forgot this when I was typing the question, but yeah, peanuts are legumes. Thanks for all who pointed that out nicely.

My boyfriend is allergic to tree nuts is he likely to be allergic to cumin?

He is allergic to eggs, bananas, hay and tree nuts, including peanuts. Any idea what else we should avoid? I’d like to make a lamb dish with cumin next weekend but don’t want to re-send him to the ER.
We don’t know what else he may be allergic to. We found out a year ago that he can’t eat garbonzo beans, didn’t see that one coming.

Develop a nut allergy in midlife?

Mom refuses to ask a doctor so I’m just here for some opinion. about a year ago, I made a cracker dip that had walnuts in it. MOm mentioned she didn’t like it because walnuts "make her tongue swell" and I told her "uh. That sounds like an allergy." so I made it with pecans instead and its fine. She LOVES pecans. Just now she ate some almonds my dad bought, and she says her tongue is swollen again. She doesn’t seem to have any problems with peanuts or peanut butter. She’s never had alelrgies before. is it possible to develop allergies to certain types of nuts in your fifties??
