What do you do for your children that are allergic to peanuts, peanutbutter, etc ? My son is 3 and had a severe allergic reaction that required hospitalization yesterday. We have an epi pen and have no nuts in our house but he was with his grandparents who should have watched him better. I almost lost my little boy yesterday any ideas, treatments anything is welcomed. thanks in advance.
so madaline belinda what did you and your parents do when you were a child to see that you never accidently got any?
thanks katz…good idea and we always read labels and are super concious about it. he can eat soy but he cannot eat peas, filberts, chestnuts, coconuts anything like that will do him in. oh and tell your daughters friend to stay away from chinese food…a little 12 year old girl died from eating a egg roll that contained waterchestnuts in a nearby town…tragic
thanks rose
thanks moe
What other nut might he be allergic to? He eats peanuts and peanut butter with no problems. The reaction to the cashew was pretty severe and he had to be rushed to the hospital at the age of two from merely taking one bite. I don’t want to risk another scare like that, but at the same time, how will I know if I don’t try other nuts? He is 7 now, and we haven’t let him have cashews since that incident. But I have been told that the next reaction will be more severe and lethal since the body is just waiting for that trigger to react.

My grandson has a severe food allergy to tree nuts (not peanuts). Many cake mixes, snack products, and prepared foods are made on equipment which also processes nuts. We cannot use those products. Can anyone with similar experience suggest some prepared snacks or mixes that are safe?
He would go into shock and having breathing difficulties which could threaten his life. It is very dangerous!
before I knew he was allergic I used to eat everything and he had an eczema as soon as I stopped eating nuts the eczema went away. Recently I gave him some milk based formula and he broke out, but I always ate (and still do) milk products and never saw anything different by him. Is he only allergic to milk products if he eats it directly or is he maybe not even allergic to milk procucts?
How much nuts am I allowed to eat?and can I eat foods that "may contain traces of nuts"?
Why is it that I am allergic to peanuts but not to almonds or hazelnuts? I’ve figured out that I am not allergic to these nut because of my own testing by tasting. However, I am afraid to try other nuts in fear of reacting due to my nut allergy.
Peanuts, cashews, and pistachios give me my worst allergies, but I can eat walnuts, pecans, and almonds straight from the bag. How are they so different, and how could I tell whether or not other nuts, like macadamias, are dangerous?
I want to eat energy bars and protein bars but almost every package I read has nuts. I am willing to take a chance and eat ones that are packaged or made on equipment that deals with peanuts or tree nuts.
I am looking for protein bar names so I can buy them. I would like to eat protein bars, but I haven’t found any without nuts. Does anyone know of a brand that make protein bars without nuts?
